These days everybody is talking about Oprah Winfrey’s show on How to look 10 years younger in 10 days. This show focused on eating the right things or “super foods”. The benefits from eating healthy are endless. And, according to Dr. Nicholas Perricone, some foods can be eaten to help you look and age better!
According to Dr. Perricone eating super foods isn’t too hard. Oprah Winfrey wanted to look 10 years younger in 10 days and thought she could eat the 10 superfoods.
Now, just what are the 10 Superfoods? And are they easy to get? If the foods required to make you look 10 years younger in 10 days are hard to find the it will be hard to maintain compliance. As it turns out the foods are moderately common and some can be found in pill or powder form which makes things even easier.
The following is a list of the superfoods that are supposed to make you look 10 years younger in 10 days as was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Acai fruit
This little berry is one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world. It can often be found in juice form in health food and gourmet stores. Prior to the Oprah Show I had never heard of this berry. I read a lot of about food and health foods and I had never heard of it so that makes me think it’s not too common. I will check at my local health food store and get back to you on availability and price.
Garlic, onions, leeks, scallions, chives and shallots can all help the liver eliminate toxins and carcinogens. I love garlic but hate the rest unless they are well cooked and hidden amongst other foods. However, as a food group these are very inexpensive and very easy to find.
This can be used as a breakfast cereal, in soups and stews, and as a rice substitute. Barley's also high in fiber, helping metabolize fats, cholesterol and carbohydrates. Barley is a grandmother food. I’m not sure that I’ve ever had barley in my house as an adult. I eat whole wheat oatmeal for breakfast and I wonder if barley would taste as good. Barley is inexpensive and easy to find
Green foods like wheat and barley grasses can be bought in powder, tablet or juice form, and offer greater levels of nutrients than green leafy vegetables. They also help cholesterol, blood pressure and immune response. Wheat and barley grasses are not at your local grocery store. Does this include spinach? I eat A LOT of spinach. The powder or the tablet form would be very easy to add to a daily diet.
Buckwheat is loaded with protein, high in amino acid, stabilizes blood sugar and reduces hypertension. Although Buckwheat is inexpensive and easy to find I have never cooked with it. I bought my spouse buckwheat flour at her request once but she has barely looked at it and certainly hasn’t cooked with it yet. Other than buckwheat flour I’m not sure how to cook buckwheat. Can it be cooked like oatmeal for breakfast?
You can reduce cholesterol while beefing up on antioxidants, folic acid and potassium. Try kidney, black, navy, pinto, chickpeas, soybeans, peas and lentils. This is the easiest of all of the superfoods discussed on Oprah Winfrey’s show on how to look 10 years younger in 10 days. I eat chickpeas all the time in hummous. Hummous adds two superfoods together, namely garlic and chickpeas. Also with tahini (sesame paste) it potentially adds another category of superfood. Maybe Hummous is the perfect food! It is in my house, in any event.
Both bell and chili peppers contain antioxidants, have twice the Vitamin C as citrus fruit and work as great fat burners. In moderation hot peppers had a delightful zing to most dishes
You can't go wrong with a handful of nuts a day—walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, macadamia and pistachio nuts contain Omega 3 fats, which are great for your heart. Raw, unsalted nuts and seeds are best. These nuts are easy to find and are moderately inexpensive. I use 3 or 3 tablespoons of sesame seeds in a number of different dishes I make for my family. I like sesame seeds the best when they are slightly toasted. Toasting sesame seeds is easy in a dry frying pan for about 2 minutes. I also eat peanuts regularly but I don’t think they have the health benefits of walnuts or almonds.
Numerous varieties of sprouts are great with any meal. The most common ones are bean sprouts and alfalfa sprouts. They're a great source of protein and Vitamin C. Try adding them to any dish and your immune system will get a boost. These are both inexpensive and easy to find although be sure to wash them well.
These cultured foods contain healthful bacteria that aid immune function, and the calcium helps burn fat. Try using them as a base for a smoothie. We all know what yogurt is but kefir is less common. Kefir is a cultured, enzyme-rich food filled with friendly micro-organisms that help balance your "inner ecosystem." More nutritious and therapeutic than yogurt, it supplies complete protein, essential minerals, and valuable B vitamins. Kefir is used to restore the inner eco-system after antibiotic therapy. Yogurt is easy to find and inexpensive but I don’t know how easy it is to find Kefir.
So the above superfoods are what was described on Oprah Winfrey’s show on How to look 10 years younger in 10 days. I eat most of these foods off and on already so changing my diet to include these foods on a daily basis wouldn’t be that difficult. Although what would even be easier is if elements of all these ingredients were combined into some sort of superfoods diet pills. Just pop a pill in the morning and then try to eat as much of the above mentioned foods during the day that you can.
Wait! What did you say? This pill already exists? That’s great news and, of course, it already exists and it’s called OROVO. One enterprising young stay at home mom (with a hubby in the food science biz) saw the Oprah Winfrey show on "how to look 10 years younger in 10 days". She thought to herself “who wouldn’t want to look 10 years younger in 10 days?” She, with the help of science-hubby, combined extracts of all of the super foods and added a few more healthy zingers suggested by Dr. Nicholas Perricone and developed the best diet pills called Orovo.
Orovo is really an ingenious development as it combines the superfoods shown on Oprah Winfrey’s show on "how to look 10 years younger in 10 days" with the undoubted convenience of diet pills. Hmmm, what would Oprah think?
But does ORVO really work? Can the benefits of simple whole foods ever be really replicated in a diet pills form? We think it just might. Check back to this website as we will be posting our findings into the benefits of Orovo.
