Do fat burning foods exist? Are there actually foods that can make you lose weight just by eating them? And if so, how does that work? Are the calories burnt by eating these foods actually greater than the calories consumed? Or do the fat burning foods somehow trigger an increase in our metabolic rates that can result in weight loss.
Believe it or not, there are actual fat burning foods. Adding some of these foods to your regular diet will give you a little added boost in losing weight and achieving the ideal body weight for your height. These foods can to the trick on their own. They need to be a part of a healthy diet and all weight loss requires some moderate physical exercise.
So what are these mystery foods? You will be surprised. You are likely eating some already. These fat burning foods are very common foods and you are bound to have a number already in your fridge and pantry.
1. Eggs. Eggs are high in protein, low in fat and can really help you burn that unwanted belly fat.
The days of the warnings about eggs and your health are over. Relax eggs are good for you. If you have high cholesterol then you might want to speak to your doctor about the right number of eggs for you. However, if you have healthy cholesterol then you needed worry too much about eggs.
Studies have shown that women who eat eggs regularly for breakfast tend to lose significantly more weight than those women that consume a different sort of breakfast food.
2. Green Tea. Nothing gives your body an extra fat burning boost than green tea. Make green tea and iced green tea a part of your diet and watch the fat melt away.
3. Calcium or Low fat dairy products. Calcium, calcium, calcium. Studies have shown that calcium can play a big role in fat burning. The good news is that you can get the same benefits from a calcium supplement. According to one study women who ate low-fat dairy products three to four times a day lost 70 percent more fat than women that ate little to no dairy.
So, not only does calcium or low-fat dairy products help strengthen your bones, it can also play a fantastic role in burning extra body fat.
4. Beans, beans, they're good for your heart and it turns out they are also good for your weight. For years beans have gotten a gassy bad rap. However, they are also very good sources of protein, fiber and iron.
There are many different types of beans to pick from. Soak and boil a few different types for an excellent bean salad. Some of the best include: navy beans, chickpeas, fava beans, white beans, kidney beans, and lima beans. Beans on their own or combined with garlic and lemon are excellent sources of good nutrition. Try to stay away from refried beans as they are high in fat and baked beans which can be high in sugar.
5. Oatmeal. Oatmeal has a bad reputation for being a bland breakfast food for grandparents. That couldn't be further from the truth. Oatmeal is a tasty fat burning food. Oatmeal is packed with weight loss nutrients. If you dress it up, it can be tasty breakfast delight. Try adding a small bit of low fat yogurt or natural maple syrup, or fresh fruit or my favorite hummus. The additional of hummus (a legume) with the whole grain (oatmeal) makes a perfect protein.
Oatmeal is loaded with soluble fiber which helps reduce the bad blood cholesterol by flushing those bad digestive acids out of your body. Oatmeal is also helpful in fighting colon cancer and heart disease.
6. Good fats. Certain fats are good for you and your body needs them. Olive oil is one of those "good fats". In fact, it's so good that it helps you burn fat and keeps your cholesterol down. Make sure you only buy extra virgin olive oil and make sure it clearly states on the label that it is first cold pressed oil.
Olive oil is super rich in monounsaturated fat, which is a type of fat, that studies are finding provides remarkable health benefits. One ounce of extra virgin olive oil contains about 85% of the daily value for monounsaturated fat. Flax oil and avocados are also considered fat burning good fats.
7. Low fat proteins. Salmon and tuna are excellent sources of protein. They both contain omega-3 fatty acids which are actually healthy fats. These two sources of low fat protein are also good for your immune system.
8. Chilies and cayenne pepper. Add some spice to your food and while doing so you might just lose some weight. Chilies and cayenne peppers both contain capsaicin which is considered thermogenic food. They actually help your body burn fat for the next 20 minutes after they are eaten.
